Description of the absolute change

The absolute change is a term from mathematics, which describes the difference between two values. It is calculated by subtracting the initial value from the new, second value.

If there is a positive change, i.e. if the new value is larger, you get a positive result. If the new value is smaller than the old value, you get a negative result.

The absolute change, in contrast to the relative or percentage change, has a physical unit, such as kilometers for distance or inhabitants for population

The absolute change formula is calculated by subtracting the initial value from the second value.
