Description and formula for proportionality
Proportional sizes are related; that is, with the proportional quantities x and y, the doubling or halving of quantity x is always associated with a doubling or halving of quantity y. The ratio of x : y is called the proportionality factor or constant of proportionality 'k'.
\(\displaystyle y=k ·x\) \(\displaystyle x=\frac{y}{k}\) \(\displaystyle k=\frac{y}{x}\)
